As educators, we all have been troubled from time to time by the disciplining of a student with a disability when we so clearly see that the disability is a barrier to the understanding of school rules/codes of conduct, and/or the disability is a barrier to responding appropriately to the routine demands of a typical school day. This session will provide you with an overview of student discipline in DPS, and provide you with strategies for supporting students whose disabilities expose them to discipline consequences.
