Since 2003, the high school setting has been my home away from home, but have taught every grade except kindergarten and 6th and 7th. I am licensed in Elementary Ed (K-6), Family and Consumer Sciences (7-12), Linguistically Diverse Ed (K-12), Special Ed Generalist (5-21), and Special Ed 1- Moderate Needs (5-21). I've taught lots of different subjects and age-groups over the years. My education began with an AA degree in Dance and PE, then a BS in Occupational Studies for Special Needs Populations focusing in Transition Services, next was a MS in Secondary and Post-Secondary Adult Education, then a PhD in -Educational Psychology and Instructional Design.
Currently, I am working on an EdS in Educational Leadership for Administration and Special Education through UNC. My long-term goal is to complete this EdS program and become an administrator to finish out my career, as I plan to work for six and a half more years. I am married with five grown children and five grandchildren. My favorite time is spent with our grandson, Ryder who is three and spends most weekends with us. Ryder is the reason my husband and I moved up to Denver a few months before he was born. One of the best parts of my life, was that I took five months off to take care of him, before I had to go back to work full-time.
When you think of disco dancing, you can think of me, because I used to dance competitively and that was one of my most enjoyable activities back in the day! My hair is straight in the attached picture, but it is naturally CURLY, so last year one of my high school students dubbed me Dr. Frizzle, and it stuck! It probably also helps that I drive an activity bus for our ACEConnect Career outings!
